Ranthambore Durga Puja holiday package

Ranthambore for the Durga Puja Holidays

Many Bengali families travel during the Puja break, and wildlife in Rajasthan is a popular choice. In 2026 Maha Saptami is on 17 October and Dashami follows on 20 October. Flights and permits for those days fill early, so this page covers how to plan the trip from Kolkata and elsewhere in West Bengal without losing a day to the journey.

Getting from West Bengal to Ranthambore

There is no airport at Sawai Madhopur. Most families from Kolkata fly to Jaipur, approximately 160 to 180 km and 3 to 3.5 hours by road from the park, or to Delhi and take a train of 4 to 5 hours. Siliguri and North Bengal travellers usually connect through Kolkata or Delhi. Book the flight first in Puja week, since fares climb steeply close to the dates.

Plan Around the Puja Days

Many families prefer to be home for Shashthi to Saptami and travel after Ashtami, or travel after Dashami. Either way, send us your dates before you buy tickets, so we can check which safari slots are still open and suggest dates where both flights and permits are available.

Suggested 3-Night Plan

Day 1: morning flight to Jaipur, drive to Sawai Madhopur, check in, evening safari. Day 2: morning safari, rest, Ranthambore Fort and Trinetra Ganesh Temple. Day 3: safaris in different zones. Day 4: optional early drive, breakfast and transfer to Jaipur for the flight home.

Safaris and Permits

A shared jeep seat is approximately Rs 2,200 to 2,500 per Indian visitor and a canter seat approximately Rs 1,500 to 1,600, subject to revision. Permits are per date and slot. In October the forest is green and tigers are harder to see than in winter, but the scenery and lakes are at their best.

Food

Hotels in Sawai Madhopur serve North Indian food, with vegetarian options everywhere. If you want fish or Bengali dishes, tell us in advance and we will check what the hotel can arrange; many cannot. Do not assume they can prepare them on the day.

Add Jaipur Before or After

Since you are flying into Jaipur anyway, many Bengal families add a night in the city for Amber Fort, the City Palace and the old bazaars before or after the safaris.
