Weather in May
About 27 to 44°C. Mornings start warm and afternoons are very hot. A hat, sunglasses and plenty of water are essential, and young children and anyone sensitive to heat should prefer the morning drive.
Ranthambore in May
May is the hottest month in Ranthambore and the best for tiger sightings. With water scarce, tigers stay near the lakes and the last pools, and the dry, thin forest lets you see far. If your priority is a tiger and you can handle 44°C afternoons, May is the month to choose. Permits for April to June 2027 open on 1 February 2027 at 12 noon.

Please provide authentic details as per government ID for safari permits.
We are a private tour operator, not the Forest Department, and permits are allocated by the Rajasthan Forest Department. We usually reply within 2 hours (6am to 6pm) and confirm the price before you pay anything.
No payment now. We check permit availability and confirm the price with you first.

Water is scarce, so tigers stay close to the lakes and remaining pools, and the sparse forest improves visibility. Tigers are often seen soaking in water to cool off, which is also when many of the best photographs of the year are taken.
From 1 April to 15 May the schedule is 6.00 AM to 9.30 AM and 3.00 PM to 6.30 PM; from 15 May it is 6.00 AM to 9.30 AM and 3.30 PM to 7.00 PM. Morning pickup is very early and the evening drive stays hot until the last hour.
Carry two litres of water per person, cover your head and arms, use sunscreen, and avoid heavy meals before the evening drive. Do not bring very young children on the evening safari, and keep a damp scarf or towel handy. Take breaks at the hotel between the morning and evening drives.
Weekdays are easier than weekends and school-holiday weekends can be busy even in the heat. The April to June 2027 block opens on 1 February 2027 at 12 noon. Send your dates beforehand with a fallback, and say whether you want a jeep for photography or the lower-cost canter.
For many photographers and returning visitors, yes. It is not the most comfortable month, but it gives the clearest views and the highest chance of a tiger at water. If you want comfort over odds, choose November to February instead.
