June is the last month of the season. The core zones stay open until 30 June, the park is quiet, hotels offer their best value of the year and tigers are still easy to find near water. The trade-off is heat and rising humidity as the monsoon approaches. For travellers who prioritise sightings and price over comfort, June is under-rated.

About 28 to 42°C with humidity rising through the month. Early June is dry and very hot; towards the end, pre-monsoon clouds and the odd storm can cool the evenings and interrupt a drive. Carry water and a light rain cover for cameras.
Tigers are still concentrated around the lakes and remaining water, and sightings remain strong. Birdlife is quieter than in winter, but the heat produces dramatic scenes at the water's edge. A late storm can scatter animals, so give yourself two or three safaris.
The morning safari runs 6.00 AM to 9.30 AM and the evening safari 3.30 PM to 7.00 PM from 15 May to 30 June. The evening slot ends late, so the light is warm and low for the last part of the drive.
June is the quietest month of the open season and hotels are at their cheapest, so a two-night trip costs noticeably less than in winter. Permit prices stay the same, but availability is far easier, including at shorter notice.
The April to June 2027 permits open on 1 February 2027 at 12 noon. Send your dates ahead and add a fallback. Because the core zones close after 30 June, a trip on the last few days of the month has no extension if weather interrupts.
