Ranthambore tour from Surat

Ranthambore Tour from Surat

Surat sits on the same western trunk line that passes through Sawai Madhopur, which makes rail the natural way to reach Ranthambore from South Gujarat. It is still a long journey, so we plan around the train timings first and book safaris to match. Three nights is the plan we suggest, and it works well over the Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali breaks.

Surat to Ranthambore by Train

The Mumbai to Delhi line runs through Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam and Kota before reaching Sawai Madhopur, so several long-distance services connect Surat with the town that serves the park. The journey takes most of a day or an overnight, depending on the service. Seats on convenient departures sell out well ahead of Navratri and Diwali, so confirm the train before anything else, and tell us your arrival time so the pickup and the first safari line up.

Surat to Ranthambore by Air

There is no airport at Sawai Madhopur. The nearest is Jaipur, approximately 160 to 180 km from the park and 3 to 3.5 hours by road. Flight availability from Surat to Jaipur varies by season, and many travellers connect through Mumbai or Delhi. Check current flights, and if the connection is awkward, the train is usually the simpler choice from Surat.

Surat to Ranthambore by Road

Driving is roughly 850 to 900 km, which is two days of comfortable driving rather than one. Families who drive usually break the journey at Udaipur or Chittorgarh. We can arrange a car with driver or meet your own car at the hotel, but for most Surat travellers the train is easier on the family.

Suggested 3-Night Plan

Day 1: board the train from Surat. Day 2: arrive at Sawai Madhopur, check in, rest, evening safari. Day 3: morning safari, Ranthambore Fort and Trinetra Ganesh Temple in the afternoon, optional second drive. Day 4: morning safari, check out and head back by train. Add a night if you want a relaxed pace, since the travel legs take most of two days.

Safaris and Permits

Every safari is a separate permit for a fixed date and slot, with the zone allocated at booking. Shared jeep seats are approximately Rs 2,200 to 2,500 per Indian visitor and canter seats approximately Rs 1,500 to 1,600, subject to revision. Festival weeks sell out early, so book permits before you book the rest of the trip. No safari guarantees a sighting; more drives across more zones is the only honest way to improve the odds.

What the Package Includes

Our quote usually covers the hotel in Sawai Madhopur, all safari permits and the vehicle, station pickup and drop, hotel-to-gate transfers, and slot coordination around your train. Train and flight tickets can be added on request. We quote on enquiry because hotel category, safari count, jeep versus canter and the dates all move the price.
