Ranthambore safari permits are no longer released on a rolling basis. The Rajasthan Forest Department opens each three-month block on a fixed day at 12 noon, two months before the block starts. Safaris from 1 January to 31 March 2027 go on sale on Sunday 1 November 2026 at 12 noon. When the October to December block opened on 1 August 2026, about 40,000 people registered in the first two hours, so New Year, Republic Day and Holi dates are likely to go within hours. How the Ranthambore Booking Windows Work

The season from 1 October to 30 June is split into three blocks. October to December opens on 1 August, January to March opens on 1 November, and April to June opens on 1 February, each at 12 noon on the forest department's official booking system. Until a block opens, none of its dates can be booked by anyone, through any agent. Once it opens, every date in those three months can be booked at the same moment, which is why the first hour decides most weekend and holiday dates.

What Opens on 1 November 2026

Every morning and evening safari from Friday 1 January to Wednesday 31 March 2027, in all ten zones, for both jeep (gypsy) and canter. Note that 31 December 2026 belongs to the October to December block, which opened on 1 August, so a New Year's Eve safari and a 1 January safari are booked in different windows. If your trip crosses the year end, check the 31 December slot now and plan the January dates for 1 November.

Which Dates Go First

Expect the New Year weekend of 1 to 3 January, the Republic Day long weekend of 23 to 26 January, and the Holi long weekend of 20 to 22 March to sell out first, followed by every Saturday morning in January and February. Midweek dates in early February and mid-March are the easiest to get. Jeep seats go faster than canter seats, and morning slots faster than evening ones, so a flexible slot or vehicle is the best way to still get a safari on a busy date.

How to Be Ready Before 12 Noon

Fix your safari dates and at least one fallback date. Decide on jeep or canter and morning or evening, with a second choice for each. Collect every visitor's full name, gender, age, nationality and ID number exactly as printed on the card they will carry, because the permit is checked against that original document at the gate. Indian visitors can use Aadhaar, voter ID, driving licence or passport; foreign nationals use passport details. Full payment is made at booking, so the payer should be reachable on the day.

Foreign visitors were able to book directly on the official portal for the first time in the August 2026 release. Be careful with look-alike websites that use "official" in their name; check the domain ends in rajasthan.gov.in before paying.

If Your Dates Are Sold Out

Try the other slot or vehicle on the same day before changing dates. Canter seats often remain after jeeps sell out. A day either side of a long weekend is usually still open. Cancelled seats do reappear closer to the date, so keep checking, or ask us to watch your dates. Two safaris in different zones over one stay also give better tiger odds than a single drive on the busiest day.

After January to March: April to June 2027

The next release is on Monday 1 February 2027 at 12 noon, for safaris from 1 April to 30 June 2027. These are the hottest months but also the best for tiger sightings, because the cats stay near water. Photographers and repeat visitors plan around this window, so the first weekends of April and May go quickly too.
